Migraine stories

Matt, Lucy and Kerry shine a light on the misconceptions people with migraine often hear, and the importance of speaking up about life with migraine.

Matt’s story

Matt has been living with migraine since he was 15. After years of finding it difficult to share the reality of his condition with his healthcare professional and loved ones, he’s now ready to speak up.

“Don’t just give up and accept that this is the way your life is going to be.”

Lucy’s story

Lucy has been managing her migraine for years – and the anxiety and misconceptions that often come with it. She’s speaking up to remind others that migraine deserves to be taken seriously.

“I think its really helpful if people can speak up for themselves and don’t be afraid to go and speak to your healthcare professional and don’t be dismissed. Migraine is a complex neurological condition and it’s not your fault. You do genuinely deserve care, and help and compassion.”

Kerry’s story

Kerry has been living with migraine since she was 21. She shares how migraine has affected her independence, why migraine is more than “just a headache”, and the importance of helping healthcare professionals understand the full impact it can have.

“I think when healthcare professionals are with patients they almost need to hear something, see something to really understand what’s going on. The best thing you can do, is to keep a really good migraine diary and take that with you to your healthcare professional.”

By completing your Migraine Profile, you can share your experience with migraine, helping you have more open conversations with your healthcare team about what matters most to you.
